Riding an Elephant in Thailand

About Me:

I am a 3x marathon finisher.  I have run the Chicago Marathon, the Berlin Marathon, and the Twin Cities Marathon.  Someday, I hope to run Boston, but we’ll see.  In addition to these, I have run countless shorter races.  I am currently eyeing triathlons, but I’ve got some work to do before I get there.  A life long goal of mine is to finish an Ironman, but that’s a bit of a stretch.

I love to travel, especially internationally, and I have been very lucky to have had the chance to see many different countries, cities and cultures.  I have traveled to many places by myself without any details planned in advance other than the airline ticket in and out.  One of my favorite things to do when traveling to a city far away is to get lost in it and to work my way through language and cultural barriers to find adventure and my way back home.  I’ve successfully accomplished this goal in virtually ever major city I have visited, and boy do I have stories.  Here’s a selection of some of the great places I have visted:  London, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Budapest, Prague, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Bangkok, Phuket.  One of my favorite travel memories so far is riding an elephant through a Thai jungle.

I grew up on PONG and Atari and first learned how to program a computer by teaching myself BASIC on our Texas Intruments computer as a kid.  I recently met super-entreprenuer, Nolan Bushnell.  He’s the founder of PONG and Atari,  and I was delighted to find him to be not only fascinating and insightful but extremely friendly and funny.
